Duties such as cutting, bending and forming metal parts into desired shapes with hand and power tools and equipment; assembling and fastening fabricated parts by riveting, bolting, screwing, seaming, and welding; and using cutting and welding torches.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- Interpret drawings to develop, plan and make templates to fabricate parts using a wide variety of sheet metals.
- Calculate angles and degrees needed to form metal parts into desired shapes with hand tools, power tools and equipment.
- Use welding equipment to create welds ranging from simple to precise using the appropriate techniques to prevent distortion or burning while meeting strength and dimension requirements.
- Assemble fabricated parts in order to repair a wide variety of equipment.
Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires personal protective equipment must be used and worn to complete certain tasks.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical must be completed successfully and annually thereafter.
- This position requires a valid state driver's license at the time of hire.
- This position requires a forklift license be obtained within six months of employment and maintained thereafter.
- This position may require overtime or irregular hours when needed due to mission requirements.
- Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug test and then annually through random testing thereafter.

- Work requires standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching and often times working from ladders and scaffolds; often lifting objects weighing 50 lbs. and more; and often working in awkward and cramped positions for long periods of time.
- Performs work indoors and outdoors, from extreme hot to extreme cold, from clean areas to extra-hot and dirty areas. Incumbent is exposed to possible injury from burns, falls, strains, cuts and bruises. Employees working in asbestos are frequently required to wear respiratory protection, coveralls, disposable outer garments, gloves and safety boots or shoes. The level of protective equipment is dependent on the measured exposures or operational needs.
