- Performs maintenance on a variety of chemical and biological protection equipment.
- Conducts testing to determine the repair that will be utilized.
- Disassembles instruments/components to inspect for worn or damaged parts.
- Complies with all environmental, security, safety administrative requirements.
Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must have experience working with chemical and biological protective equipment.
- May require up to 50% time for CONUS and OCONUS travel.
- Pre-appointment physical is required and annual physical annually thereafter.
- Must be able to physically perform the duties of a Chemical Equipment Repairer.
- Emergency overtime, non-traditional work shifts, and travel may be required.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.
- This is a drug testing designated position under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program in accordance with AR 600-85.

- Work is performed in standing, stooping and bending positions. Work is occasionally performed in a sitting position while making repairs at a workbench or using test equipment. Frequently handles items weighing 5-25 pounds and occasionally is required to lift items in excess of 45 pounds
- Work is normally performed in a moderately lighted, heated and ventilated shop. Incumbents are subject to dirt and grease during work operations; also exposed to equipment under hydrostatic test up to 3000 psi. Work requires occasional use of protective clothing such as asbestos suits, rubber coats, aprons, gloves, masks, etc.
