T. Baker Smith (TBS) is looking for a Solutions Developer to join our Innovative Solutions Group and help turn complex business and technology challenges into practical, scalable solutions.

This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys more than simply writing code. You’ll have the opportunity to work across full-stack application development, systems integration, automation, data architecture, and AI-enabled solutions while collaborating with teams across the firm and supporting innovative solutions for our clients.

What You’ll Do

As a Solutions Developer, you will:

• Design, build, test, deploy, and support secure, scalable software applications for internal teams and external clients.
• Develop modern frontend and backend solutions using current frameworks, programming languages, APIs, and reusable components.
• Design and maintain relational databases, data models, queries, and application data-access solutions.
• Integrate enterprise systems, GIS platforms, cloud services, databases, and third-party applications through APIs, webhooks, and other integration methods.
• Build automation workflows and data pipelines that reduce manual processes, improve data quality, and increase operational efficiency.
• Develop and integrate AI-enabled solutions, including LLM services, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector search, and intelligent document processing when appropriate.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to understand business needs, define requirements, evaluate options, prototype ideas, and develop effective technical solutions.
• Own assigned solutions throughout the full software development life cycle, from architecture and development through testing, deployment, documentation, support, and continuous improvement.
• Use Git-based version control, code review, automated testing, and CI/CD practices to improve software quality and deployment reliability.
• Apply secure development practices involving authentication, authorization, secrets management, dependency management, logging, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Research emerging technologies and contribute to development standards and best practices.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively within an Agile development environment.

What We’re Looking For

• 4 years of professional experience in software development, solutions development, application development, systems integration, or a related technology discipline.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated full-stack development experience using modern technologies such as:
  • TypeScript/JavaScript
  • Angular or React
  • Node.js
  • .NET
  • Python
  • Or comparable technologies
• Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL, including data modeling, SQL development, and application data access.
• Experience developing and consuming REST APIs, webhooks, and system integrations.
• Familiarity with cloud-based or hybrid application environments.
• Working knowledge of Git, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, application deployment, and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Ability and enthusiasm to quickly learn new technologies.

Even Better If You Have

• Experience with containerized applications or development environments.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and AI-enabled application technologies.
• Experience working with LLM APIs, RAG, vector search, or intelligent document processing.
• Experience integrating GIS or other enterprise platforms.
• A track record of identifying opportunities where technology and automation can improve business processes.
