Johnston County Department of Social Services has an immediate opening for an Income Maintenance Caseworker III. The Income Maintenance Caseworker III provides assistance to the supervisor and the team determining eligibility for Food and Nutrition Services recertifications, and reports to the Economic Services Program Manager and supervisor.
The primary purpose of the Income Maintenance Case Worker III position is to serve as a subject matter expert to Income Maintenance workers and assist the Income Maintenance supervisor with FNS recertification policies, procedures and eligibility determinations in NCFAST.
This position must have thorough knowledge of the NC FAST system, policy knowledge of Food and Nutrition Services.
The position involves supervising a team of income maintenance Case workers and support staff engaged in eligibility determination and case management for Child Care Subsidy, Energy and NEMT programs.
This position assigns and monitors workloads to ensure equitable distribution and timely processing of applications, renewals, and changes.
This position must Review and monitor case accuracy, timeliness, and documentation to maintain program integrity.
This position will coordinate cross- program activities and provide technical assistance to staff.
Analyze reports and performance metrics to monitor caseload trends and program performance.
Respond to client complaints, appeals and inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality.
Other duties may be assigned such as Shelter or Emergency Management duties during a disaster.
Thorough knowledge of Childcare, Energy or NEMT.
Thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, policies and eligibility systems.
Considerable knowledge of the agency's organizational rules, policies, and procedures.
General knowledge of basic supervisory and management skills.
Strong leadership, coaching and conflict-resolution skills.
General understanding of the budget and planning process skills.
Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.
Ability to recognize, collect, and evaluate evidence to support actions.
Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, community agencies, law enforcement agencies to obtain or present pertinent data,
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and the general public.
Ability to present information orally or in written form.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an income maintenance program, preferably with one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
