What are the responsibilities and job description for the Income Maintenance Caseworker III (Intake) position at Johnston County?
The primary purpose of the Income Maintenance Case Worker III position is to serve as a subject matter expert to Income Maintenance workers and assist the Income Maintenance supervisor with taking applications and recertifications for FNS and Medicaid, keying the information into NCFAST, receive verifications for both programs, answer customer questions, follow policies, procedures and federal guidelines for both programs. This position must have thorough knowledge of the NC FAST system, policy knowledge of Food and Nutrition Services and Medicaid. This position supports the intake team by answering questions, handling complex application and recertification issues. This position must review and monitor case accuracy, timeliness, and documentation to maintain program integrity and compliance. This position will assist the front desk staff by answering questions and assisting with assigning customers. Pull and analyze reports to monitor caseload trends and program performance. Assist the supervisor by working closely with the team, working with customers and answering questions. Other duties may be assigned such as Shelter or Emergency Management duties during a disaster.
Thorough knowledge of any FNS, Medicaid or any other Economic Services program. Thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, policies and eligibility systems. Considerable knowledge of the agency's organizational rules, policies, and procedures. Ability to organize and consolidate information, maintain records, prepare reports, formulate treatment plans and compete other caseload management functions. Possess and demonstrate the ability to engage and teach staff skills needed to perform assigned work tasks including use of computer systems and software. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to recognize, collect, and evaluate evidence to support actions. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, community agencies, law enforcement agencies to obtain or present pertinent data. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and the general public. Ability to conduct interview/assessments, summarize and interpret findings. Knowledge of agency and community programs and services which could assist client. Ability to intervene and assess client complaints, provide feedback to client caseworker, supervisors and IM Administrators. Ability to present information orally or in written form.
Two years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an income maintenance program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
