POSITION: Grounds III
LOCATION: Facility Services
SALARY: Pay Grade 63
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full time - 12 months
REPORTS TO: Grounds Supervisor/ Foreman
JOB GOAL: To develop and maintain school grounds, athletic fields, and drainage
systems in a manner that will enhance the public image of schools and
the instructional environment
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, a 2 man crew. Assigning tasks and ensuring quality of work.
- Execute daily routes, efficiently operate all landscaping equipment and perform all aspects of lawn care.
- Enforce company safety protocols, ensure proper PPE use and maintain safe jobs sites.
- Manage, maintain and load/ unload trucks with tools and supplies and report any equipment issues.
- Experience with herbicide application preferred.
- Conditions and prepares soils and transplants or plants seeds, seedings or bulbs according to
instructions and planned design of landscaped area
- Experience with heavy equipment (track loader, mini excavator, front end loader) preferred
- Drives trucks and transports tractor and ground maintenance equipment
- Makes minor repairs to mowers and other equipment.
- Observes work in progress and give directions for corrections as needed
- Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organization core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity.
- Reports outstanding or unsatisfactory work and behavior to supervisors
- Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to perform medium/heavy lifting exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Ability to work in outside environments on a daily basis and inclement weather conditions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must hold an appropriate North Carolina drivers license for the weight and type of vehicles operated as required
by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
