Summary 
Organizes, plans, and manages the volleyball program with a strong emphasis on its impact on student retention, persistence, and engagement. The Head Volleyball Coach is responsible for the overall supervision and operation of the volleyball program, including recruiting, fundraising, scouting, summer camps, travel, practice and game planning, and other duties as assigned. This position is a part-time, 12-month position.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Organizes and supervises the volleyball program.
  • Assists the Director of Athletics in scheduling, budgeting, travel, and scholarships.
  • Develops recruiting relationships with schools and community partners.
  • Participates in promotional, marketing, and fundraising activities.
  • Coordinates recruitment and eligibility tracking.
  • Monitors student-athlete academic progress.
  • Promotes retention and persistence through athletics.
  • Demonstrates respect for diversity and inclusion.
  • Performs pre- and post-season activities.
  • Maintains equipment and statistical records.
  • Trains and evaluates assistant coaches and participants.
  • Coordinates practice schedules.
  • Maintains NJCAA rules knowledge and compliance.
  • Coordinates camps and clinics.
  • Manages program budget responsibly.
  • Serves as an academic mentor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Minimum:
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience Minimum:
  • One (1) to three (3) years of coaching experience at the NJCAA, USCAA, NCCAA, NAIA, or NCAA level.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with NJCAA and Region 10 rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements.
  • Experience with recruiting, roster management, and eligibility tracking at the collegiate level preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, financial management, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to direct and supervise others and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Sensitivity to diverse student populations.
Language Skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.

Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to perform basic math computations including adding, subtracting, multiplying and averaging all units of measure.
  • Ability to compute fractions, percent, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to use effective critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and deescalating skills

Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
