Buyer

Johnson Truck Bodies, a Great Dane company, is actively seeking a Buyer to join our team! Located in Rice Lake, WI since 1932, Johnson Truck Bodies is well-known nationally for manufacturing premium transportation equipment; Johnson Truck Bodies, Trail King Trailers and Smithway live haul trailers.

The Buyer is responsible purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment and supplies, and services. Responsible for source selection and procurement of raw materials and outside processing as well as locating and promoting new sources of supply, and cost reduction. Must maintain and promote a close working relationship with internal stakeholders.

Education & Experience: Prefer 2 years as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment. Bachelor or Associates Degree in Business or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains relationships with external suppliers and become knowledgeable of their capabilities and future business potential.
• Enforces established company procurement policies, rules and procedures for all purchasing activities to include but not limited to BOM items, MRO and supplies. Responsible for enforcing rules for use of company Purchasing Card.
• Enforces established company policies, rules and regulations to include but not limited to ECN implementation and coordinates needed vendor modifications and concessions.
• Process requisitions and purchase orders, Min/Max management, Material ERP reports, for accuracy and conformance with established policies and procedures.
• Ability to process Material Deviations, Supplier Corrective Actions, and Material Order actions as needed in relation to procurement.
• Confirms purchase orders and follows up on back orders and expedites.
• Obtains quotations from suppliers utilizing dual sourcing approach whenever possible to negotiate and document best competitive pricing.
• Required to interact with Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Finance departments to carry out daily activities.
• Maintains accurate supplier/department files.
• Meets with Suppliers to establish relationships with their companies to improve performance and accountability.
• Responsible for holding suppliers accountable for quality and performance. Participates in Supplier score carding.
• Assists with maintenance of an up-to-date filing system on pricing and suppliers to ensure immediate and accurate access to information.
• Works with Suppliers, Production, Quality, Engineering and Materials to resolve discrepant material issues.
• Works with Suppliers, Finance and Materials to resolve receiving and / or invoicing issues.
• Other duties, as assigned by Management.
