Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable NEMT (Non-Emergency Medical Transportation) Stretcher Driver to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting patients who require stretcher assistance to medical appointments, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. Duties
- Safely operate specialized passenger vehicles such as stretchers, passenger vans, or medical transport vans in accordance with all local, state, and federal transportation laws.
- Assist patients with loading, securing on stretchers or wheelchairs, and unloading at destinations with care and professionalism.
- Maintain clear communication with clients, healthcare providers, and dispatch teams to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times efficiently.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure safety and compliance with safety standards.
- Follow GPS navigation systems to navigate efficiently along local driving routes while avoiding traffic delays.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic regulations, including speed limits, traffic signals, and safety protocols during transit.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by providing compassionate support and maintaining a respectful demeanor at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, bus driver, chauffeur, or shuttle driver with a valid driver’s license.
- Experience operating passenger vehicles such as vans, limousines, or shuttle buses; commercial driving experience preferred.
- Knowledge of GPS navigation systems and ability to plan efficient routes within local areas.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of stretchers or mobility equipment safely.
- Prior experience in medical transportation or paratransit services is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws, state transportation regulations, and safety standards for passenger vehicles.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and coordination with healthcare teams.
- Ability to maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform basic maintenance tasks as needed.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; additional certifications such as
driver or limousine chauffeur license are advantageous.
