We are seeking a motivated and dependable NEMT (Non-Emergency Medical Transportation) Stretcher Driver to join our dedicated team. Responsibilities
- Safely operate passenger vehicles, including specialized stretcher transport vans, ensuring compliance with all state transportation regulations and company policies.
- Transport patients on stretchers between medical facilities, homes, and other destinations with care and professionalism.
- Assist patients with loading, unloading, and securing stretchers in the vehicle, utilizing proper manual handling techniques.
- Maintain clear communication with clients, healthcare providers, and dispatch teams to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times efficiently.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure safety and reliability of the transport vehicle.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, local driving routes, and safety protocols during all transportation activities.
- Provide excellent customer service by demonstrating empathy, patience, and professionalism when interacting with patients and their families.
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a delivery driver, bus driver, chauffeur, or shuttle driver is highly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience driving passenger vans or medical transportation vehicles is a plus.
- Knowledge of GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely when assisting patients or handling equipment.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Familiarity with state transportation regulations and commercial driving standards.
- Experience in medical transportation or paratransit services is advantageous but not required.
- Reliable work ethic with a focus on punctuality and safety in local driving routes.
