POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Accounting Clerk
Job Summary: Responsible for performing clerical accounting tasks in maintaining the general ledger, processes accounting data.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
Distributes monthly expense reports to all departments.
Reconciles the following accounts: Interest Bearing Account, Payroll Account, and Arvest Account.
Delivers monthly QI report to the Employee Health department.
Processes JRMC credit card receipts and pays the balance each month when it comes due.
Clears checks for the cash account and payroll account.
Reviews all documents for mathematical errors.
Prepares the FTE’s after every pay period.
Processes all accounting data according to hospital guidelines.
Processes invoices.
Assists the Accounting Manager in preparation for the yearly audit.
Makes daily deposits on the cafeteria, admissions, and mail-in accounts.
Audits petty cash drawers.
Scans and stores all entries and deposits into Laserfiche.
Reviews system generated payroll reports for errors and discrepancies.
Maintains list of contracts with companies and doctors.
Balances cash receipts with the Business Office.
Ensures files are accurately completed and maintained on a continual basis.
Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
Answers the phone in a professional manner, answers general accounting and payroll questions.
Maintains confidentiality of all records.
Performs additional duties as requested.
Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.

Maintains patient/employee confidentiality at all times.
Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
Wears identification while on duty.
Attends staff meetings, or reads and returns all staff meeting minutes.
Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
Requirements
Regulatory Requirements:
· High school graduate or equivalent.
· Preferred two (2) years experience in an accounting department.
Language Skills:
· Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Skills:
· Computer knowledge required.
· General knowledge of clerical accounting practices i.e., processing forms, reconciling accounts.
· Knowledgeable of office equipment.
Physical Demands:
· Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing within normal range. Oral communication. Operates 10-key calculator, typewriter, telephone, PC. Continuous sitting. Occasional walking and bending. May lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
