The North America Outbound Transportation Operations is seeking a motivated, detail‑oriented Co‑Op to support initiatives that enhance transportation execution and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain. This role offers hands‑on experience in logistics operations, data analysis, and performance reporting, with exposure to cross‑functional partners and external logistics providers. The expected pay range for this position is between $23.00 per hour and $51.50 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year. You Will Be Responsible For
Performance Monitoring & Data Analysis
- Track and report On‑Time Delivery (OTD) and On‑Time‑In‑Full (OTIF) performance using internal systems and carrier portals.
- Analyze carrier performance metrics to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Conduct root cause investigations on delivery execution issues.
- Opportunity to: develop automated dashboards and reporting tools to support data‑driven decision making.
- Opportunity to: perform deeper transportation analytics to uncover performance and cost improvement opportunities.
- Monitor daily shipments and coordinate with third‑party logistics providers to investigate Delivery Service Incidents (DSIs) and ensure timely resolution.
- Track cold‑chain shipments proactively, ensuring the integrity of temperature‑sensitive products.
- Investigate shipment non‑compliance and file incident reports following operational standards.
- Support lost‑shipment investigations and prepare documentation for J&J Global Brand Protection.
- Assist with returns processing and ensure compliance with all quality requirements.
- Generate shipment performance reports across parcel, truckload, and LTL networks.
- Identify and communicate risks related to transportation spend, delivery execution, and shipment tracking.
- Collaborate with Finance, Quality, Transportation Analysts, and external logistics partners to meet operational goals.
- Opportunity to: analyze transportation spend using Excel, Alteryx, and Power BI to support cost‑reduction initiatives.
- Opportunity to: partner with Finance on revenue reconciliation activities.
- Opportunity to: prepare claim documentation and enter financial data into the Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Opportunity to: contribute to long‑term strategic initiatives across the transportation and broader supply chain network, including projects such as eWM (Extended Warehouse Management) transformations, Transportation Management System (TMS) deployments, and ERP platform upgrades.
- Earn a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt by completing a Lean project under the mentorship of a Johnson & Johnson Lean Lead.
- Participate in leadership development programs through the Johnson & Johnson Internship and Co‑Op Association.
- Potential travel to distribution centers within the J&J Outbound network to gain hands‑on exposure to warehouse operations, transportation workflows, and end‑to‑end product movement.
- Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Information Systems, Finance, or related fields.
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience with data visualization and automation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Alteryx is required.
- Foundational understanding of financial principles, cost analysis, and transportation operations is a plus.
- Familiarity with carrier tracking systems and supply chain performance metrics (OTD, OTIF) is a plus.
- Strong, confident communication and collaboration skills.
- High attention to detail and professionalism.
- Ability to self-manage in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to deliver clear, confident presentations to senior leaders and external partners.
