We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive paralegal to join our legal team. Our firm focuses on the defense of allegations of medical malpractice. We offer a flexible hybrid work environment, with an attainable billable hour requirement and bonus levels. Prior medical malpractice or personal injury experience is desired. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining high professionalism. Attention to detail is a must.
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of obtaining records, including drafting and processing stipulations and subpoenas.
- Organize medical records, prepare medical chronologies, review records to create sets of key records.
- Communicate with expert witnesses regarding their retention, providing them with records and assisting with scheduling.
- Assist with drafting and responding to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and admission requests. Collect and prepare documents for production in response to discovery requests.
- Assist with redacting confidential information from documents submitted to opposing counsel or the Court.
- Conduct research using tools such as Westlaw, as well as researching social media to assist with gathering relevant information for cases.
- Draft witness disclosures and pleadings for pre-trial filings of ER 904 Statements, and Witness and Exhibits Lists.
- Prepare exhibits to submit to the Court for motions and/or trial.
- Creating and filing documents in ProLaw, such as medical records and documents received in discovery.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring deadlines are met.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Paralegal. Strong candidates will have experience working in litigation and with medical records.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using ProLaw or similar case management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
