What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Litigation Associate position at Johnson Friedman Law Group, PLLC?
Johnson Friedman Law Group is a growing boutique business and real estate law firm in DFW, and we’re looking for a commercial litigation associate to further develop concrete, practical experience while helping carry the day-to-day work on their cases. You already have enough litigation experience to run routine matters and appearances without being micromanaged, and you'll grow in independence as you work under the regular supervision of the firm’s senior litigators who will help you learn while trusting you to move cases forward. You’ll join a team who works hard, values their independence, and enjoys the work, and will be expected to be an active participant in the growth of the firm’s footprint, reputation, and cultures.
Position: Commercial Litigation Associate
Type: Full time, in person (flexible on a limited remote schedule after first 3 months)
Experience: 3–6 years litigation experience
Compensation: Market compensation, depending on experience, with competitive bonus structure based on productivity and originations
Benefits: Comprehensive (medical, retirement)
In this role, you’ll:
• Handle the day-to-day movement of a litigation docket under the regular supervision of a senior attorney.
• Draft pleadings, discovery, and motions, and research the issues behind them.
• Handle hearings and depositions, and take on trial work.
• Manage interactions with opposing counsel on routine matters, escalating as appropriate.
• Contribute to case strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys.
• Keep clients updated and build strong working relationships with them.
• Work efficiently with staff and paralegals.
You may be our next associate if:
• You have been licensed to practice law in Texas for at least three years.
• You have solid litigation experience and can efficiently navigate both substance and procedure on day-to-day matters.
• You have some real courtroom and deposition experience.
• You welcome feedback and are eager develop your skillsets.
• You enjoy working with a team of energetic problem solvers.
• You are respectful to non-attorney staff.
• You are comfortable interacting with clients and counsel.
