What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Care Assistant position at Johnson Family?
I am seeking a Personal Care Assistant to work in my elder uncle's home. My uncle is a pleasant man with a calm demeanor who enjoys things like reading, surfing the web, art, photography, listening to a variety of music styles, watching TV and enjoying good movies, and so much more. I would prefer to hire someone local to Whitney Point or the nearby surrounding areas.
My uncle's mind is still sharp, he's able to walk with the assistance of a walker, and perform basic self-care such as brushing his teeth and shaving. However, there are some basic things most people can do with ease that do not come easily to him, especially in the morning hours.
Responsibilities Include, but Not Limited To:
- Prepare and serve breakfast; wash the dishes
- Change / make the bed
- Wash and dry the laundry
- Empty the commode
- Assist with showering
- Fill the pill box and notify us as to which prescriptions or other medications are in need of refills
- Routine cleaning such as vacuuming and washing the floors, cleaning the bathroom
- Provide emotional support and companionship
- Document care activities in a notebook and notify me if there are any cares or concerns
Qualifications:
- Be a kind-hearted, compassionate person
- Have prior experience as a home / personal care assistant (preferred)
- Reliable transportation--this is a must
- References
- Be able to work 5 days a week, with at least one of those days being a Saturday or Sunday
- Start time of 6AM (this has some flexibility)
***PAY: I will be honest, I do not know the actual hourly pay rate. I based the $15.50 per hour on the current Upstate New York Minimum Wage. The pay is likely to be more than that, but by how much more I cannot say. This position is funded by the State and Federal government under the Consumer Directed Personal Assistant Program (CDPAP) through PPLFirst.com. I will be in charge of approving and submitting your hours every Sunday without fail. Clocking in / out and payroll is conducted by / through the New York State Department of Health's designated overseeing entity called PPL (PPLFirst.com).
If you are not already registered with PPLFirst.com, I can tell you the process is not daunting (like filling out a 26 page Medicaid application). It requires you to register with PPLFirst.com as a Personal Assistant, get a physical from a physician and submit proof, as well as filling out your state and federal tax forms and payroll information.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 21 per week
Work Location: In person
Salary : $16
