Brief Description

This is a non-supervisory, non-sworn position providing part-time administrative and property-related support to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. Personnel assigned will assist with daily office operations, maintain accurate records, perform data entry, and support the management of property-related information. The employee must be dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable interacting with the public in a government setting.

Provides administrative support including answering phones, assisting visitors, and supporting staff with routine clerical needs.

Performs data entry by entering, updating, and verifying information in county systems; corrects discrepancies as needed.

Scans, organizes, and maintains physical and digital records in accordance with county retention standards.

Assists with property-related information management by inputting, updating, and verifying property data; ensures records are complete, properly scanned, and accurately filed.

Receives incoming property documentation and assists with organizing property information within the central property area.

Completes clerical duties including preparing documents, logging court orders, and supporting case-related paperwork.

Provides support for property auctions by preparing documentation and assisting with organizational tasks.

Ability to deal effectively with the public and county personnel in a courteous manner.


Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·         Strong organizational skills.

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow county policies.

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

·         Ability to work independently with attention to detail.

·         Knowledge of property records or county databases is desirable.


Minimum Qualifications

·         High school diploma or equivalent.

·         Must be able to become CJIS certified.

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow county policies.


Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience in government, administrative support, or records management.

·         Familiarity with property records or county databases.

·         Experience with financial or compliance-related tasks.


Certificates and Licenses Required

·         Must complete a personal history packet.

·         If required, must pass background investigation, oral interview, medical physical, psychological exam, and drug/alcohol testing.

·         Valid Class C Texas driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.


Environmental Factors and Safety Hazards

·         Primarily indoor office environment with occasional outdoor tasks.

·         May be exposed to extreme heat or cold during seasonal months.

·         Standard office interaction with the public.

·         Occasional lifting of files or office supplies (up to 20 lbs).

·         Office equipment including computers, scanners, and phones.

·         Measuring devices and basic hand tools as needed.

·         Ability to learn laboratory or property-processing equipment as required.
