What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Pharmacy Technician position at Johnson Compounding and Wellness?
Johnson Compounding and Wellness is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician (certified preferred) to join a skilled team of healthcare professionals to ensure patients have access to customized medications. This person needs to be detail oriented and able to work in a fast paced environment.
Status: Full time
Shift Hours: Variable; 8-10 hours per day, 4-5 days per week. (Including 2 Saturdays per month)
Hours of Operation: 9AM – 7PM Monday –Friday, Saturday 9-5
Summary of Essential Job Functions
Responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Accurate interpretation, data entry, and billing of patient specific prescription information received via fax, telephone, or hard copy.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations and conversions
- Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills including but not limited to; inter- and interdepartmental communication and patient and prescriber communication
- Appropriately triage patient and prescriber telephone calls and respond to patient questions and/ or requests with sincerity and enthusiasm
- Enthusiastically support the Johnson Compounding team effort by performing other duties as indicated by the pharmacist in charge including support of other departments.
- Cooperates fully with other personnel in conducting business in an effective and efficient manner.
- Maintain a clean, orderly and sanitary work space
- Attend all applicable staff meetings, performance reviews, and trainings as required
- Adhere to HIPAA and HITECH Regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
- Adhere to Federal and State regulations, and United States Pharmacopeia (USP) standards
- Adhere to all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Minimum Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Active Pharmacy Technician registration in good standing with the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy
· Active Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification within 6 months of hire
Required Abilities
· Punctuality and reliability are a must
· Ability to stand for up to 10 hours
· Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp objects and/or perform repetitive hand motions for a sustained period of time
· Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds Ability to read, interpret, and adhere to documents including but not limited to: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Compounding Records, operating and maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals
· Ability to use common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, and other proportions
