Job Purpose:
The Sheeter Operator at JOHNS BYRNE CO converts large rolls of material into properly cut sheets that support production needs of the Press Department. This role requires a strong attention to detail and organization to ensure efficient production processes and meet client specifications.
- Sets up and operates the Sheeter to cut paperboard to correct size.
- Retrieves correct paperboard stock from warehouse using forklift.
- Sets machine with paper guides for the correct size of paper to be sheeted.
- Runs test sheets; examines test sheets to detect defects and verifies conformance to work orders.
- Observes operation of machine to detect and correct machine malfunctions.
- Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, security procedures and instructions.
- Performs all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPEs.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Required Education
- Minimum of High School Education or Equivalent
Required Experience
- 3 years work-related experience in a manufacturing environment. Sheeting and/or paper board experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience working with Pasaban Sheeter equipment preferred.
- Forklift experience, specifically Clamp Forklift
Required Skills & Abilities
- Ability to actively listen, analyze needs and determine needs
- Good problem-solving skills
- Mechanical aptitude
- Must possess good organization skills & attention to detail and troubleshooting skills
- Must be able to work well with others, as well as work independently
- Must have good computer skills
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand and walk around the facility.
- Regularly required to use force to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Work performed in a shop environment where a noise level is moderate. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Regularly exposed to dust, odors, and moderate noise
- Occasionally exposed to hot and cold temperature
