Role Summary: The Sheeter Operator is responsible for safely setting up, operating, and maintaining sheeting equipment used to convert roll stock or large sheets into cut sheets that meet customer specifications for size, quality, and quantity. The Sheeter Operator monitors production, performs quality checks, troubleshoots basic mechanical issues, and coordinates with helpers and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Set up sheeter machine(s) according to job orders, production schedule, and standard operating procedures.
- Install and align rolls, knives, blades, and other tooling per job specifications.
- Input and adjust machine settings (length, width, squareness, sheet count, speed, etc.) to meet quality and productivity requirements.
- Coordinate with material handlers, helpers, or forklift operators to ensure proper loading/unloading of rolls and finished pallets.
- Inspect finished sheets for defects such as tears, scuffs, miscuts, edge damage, skew, and contamination.
- Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain quality standards and minimize waste.
- Monitor machine performance and promptly address routine issues or escalate more complex mechanical problems to maintenance.
- Participate in shift hand‑offs, providing accurate status updates on jobs, machine condition, and pending issues.
- Perform routine operator‑level maintenance, such as cleaning, lubricating specified points, and checking for visible wear or damage.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly and provide detailed information to facilitate troubleshooting.
Safety Policies and Practices:
- Follow all company safety policies, including machine guarding, PPE (personal protective equipment), lockout/tagout, and safe lifting practices.
- Follow all Plant rules, Processes, and Hygiene procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
- Keep work area clean and organized: remove scrap, sweep, and maintain clear walkways in accordance with housekeeping standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) typically required.
- 3 years of experience operating sheeters or similar converting equipment in a manufacturing, printing, or packaging environment strongly preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during an 8‑ to 12‑hour shift.
- Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull materials and products up to approximately 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
Schedule:
- Full time position; 5:00pm 5:00am (2nd Shift).
- Overtime and weekends based on production needs.
Salary: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour shift differential
