Job Purpose:
The Press Operator at JOHNS BYRNE CO is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining printing presses (Heidelberg &/or Komori) to produce high-quality printed materials. This role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues to ensure efficient production processes and meet client specifications.
Key Responsibilities:

Reads job ticket to ensure complete understanding of job specifications

Performs complete make ready, including color, register, imposition, copy, and shop procedures.

Provides direction and monitors feeder’s activity and performance as well as being responsible for the feeder’s actions.

Keeps pressroom manager informed of job status, and alert manager of obstacles, delays, quality issues, or any problems that arise during a job run.

Relays complete accurate information to next shift on jobs scheduled and in progress. Identify any special issues or considerations.

Enters complete, accurate, timely information into Hagen system. Carefully review Hagen sheets, make necessary corrections, and submit at the end of shift.

Follows all specified procedures and complete all required documentation.

Performs and document all scheduled maintenance. Ensure press is well maintained on a daily basis, and press is neat and clean.

Makes adjustments to improve quality, but alerts manager if quality or other serious issues arise

Must fill out project information sheet for each job.

Responsible for direct crew to customer’s expectations

Required to perform other duties as requested, directed and assigned
Required Education:
- Minimum of High School Education or equivalent
Required Experience:
- At least 5 years as a 1st press operator in a quality shop.
- Skilled in Komori or Heidelberg [or similar equipment] operations and maintenance.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Must possess thorough knowledge of all kinds of stock, & what to look for on printed sheet
- Must possess skills in troubleshooting
- Must possess working knowledge of pressroom operations, workflow, equipment, materials, and products.
- Must possess a high degree of mechanical aptitude
- Must possess good organization skills & attention to detail
- Must be able to work well with others, as well as work independently
- Required to read and write, follow verbal instructions and use simple math
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand and walk around the facility.
- Regularly required to use force to lift, push and pull up to 70 pounds
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment:
- Work performed in a shop environment where a noise level is moderate but on some instances might be required to where ear protection is necessary
- Might be required to wear safety glasses
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Regularly exposed to dust, odors, and moderate noise
- Occasionally exposed to hot and cold temperature
Salary : $35 - $40
