The Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) Division of Pediatric General Surgery is recruiting a fellowship-trained Pediatric Surgeon in St. Petersburg, Florida. We seek a highly qualified, team-oriented candidate committed to advancing the mission of our nationally recognized Esophageal and Airway Treatment (EAT) Program. In addition to providing pediatric general surgery care, this individual will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of surgeons, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, speech/swallow therapists, cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, intensivists, neonatologists, and other pediatric subspecialists dedicated to providing innovative, comprehensive care for children with both general surgical conditions and complex esophageal and airway conditions.

We serve as a regional, national, and international referral center, providing advanced surgical options and long-term follow-up to optimize functional outcomes. A candidate with interest and some expertise in complex airway reconstruction, advanced esophageal surgery, intensive care and related thoracic procedures would be a valuable addition. Highlights include:

  • Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is a 259-bed teaching hospital ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a “Top 50 Children’s Hospital” in six pediatric specialties (2024–2025). We are also ranked the #1 children’s hospital in Florida.

  • Serve as faculty for our ACGME-approved pediatric surgery and surgical critical care fellowships
  • JHACH is a designated Pediatric Trauma Center serving the region with expert care in nearly all subspecialties. More than half of the hospital’s beds are devoted to intensive care services.
  • JHACH has Level I ACS Children’s Surgical Verification, assuring the highest level of surgical quality and safety while achieving the best outcomes for both complex and straightforward surgical conditions.
  • JHACH provides comprehensive pediatric general surgery supporting our level 4 NICU, Pediatric Oncology and Bone Marrow Program, Congenital Cardiac and Transplant Program, and Pediatric Emergency Room with 48,000 visits per year.
  • The Esophageal and Airway Treatment Program provides comprehensive thoracic surgical and medical care for children with esophageal atresia (including long-gap), tracheoesophageal fistula, esophageal strictures, tracheomalacia, laryngeal clefts, tracheal stenosis, subglottic stenosis, vascular rings, and chest wall anomalies.
  • Surgical techniques include the Foker process for long-gap esophageal atresia, jejunal interposition, airway stenting and splinting, posterior and anterior tracheopexy, tracheal reconstruction, dynamic 3-phase bronchoscopy, and the use of nerve monitoring during complex procedures.
  • The program is actively engaged in research initiatives, including national registries, surgical innovation, and outcome tracking, with opportunities for candidates to contribute to ongoing clinical and translational research, including artificial intelligence.
  • Excellent compensation package

Candidate Qualifications: Desirable candidates will be board-eligible or board-certified in pediatric surgery and have a significant interest in thoracic surgery, including complex pediatric esophageal and airway surgery, in addition to the full spectrum of pediatric general surgery.
