About the Opportunity
A boutique law firm is seeking an experienced Employment & Business Litigation Associate to join its busy employment practice. The firm provides comprehensive legal services to nonprofit, for-profit, public-sector clients, and individuals across employment law, business litigation, health and human services, real estate, affordable housing, finance, and education.

Qualifications & Skills
- 4 years of experience in employment law, business litigation, or general litigation preferred; candidates with more or less experience may be considered
- Massachusetts bar membership or eligibility to waive in is required
- Demonstrated experience managing litigation matters throughout the case lifecycle
- Experience with employment litigation and/or advising clients on employment-related issues
- Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to think strategically and take ownership of complex legal matters
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a collaborative legal team
- Strong business judgment and an interest in developing a long-term legal practice
Key Responsibilities
- Handle employment law and business litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, written discovery, dispositive and non-dispositive motions, and other court filings
- Take and defend depositions and argue motions in state and federal court and before administrative agencies
- Prepare cases for trial and participate in alternative dispute resolution
- Advise employers and employees on wage and hour, leave, reasonable accommodation, performance, disciplinary, and restrictive covenant matters
- Counsel clients regarding applicable state and federal employment laws, including the Massachusetts Wage Act, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Massachusetts Earned Sick Time law, and pay equity and transparency requirements
- Draft and review employment agreements, offer letters, confidentiality agreements, separation agreements, employee handbooks, and workplace policies
- Litigate employment disputes involving wage and hour claims, discrimination, retaliation, and restrictive covenants before courts and administrative agencies, including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD)
- Manage matters independently while collaborating with attorneys and other professionals across practice areas
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to grow a legal practice
