2nd Shift Group Leader

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, oversees production, quality, and safety. Ensure production process is running efficiently, associates are proficiently trained to perform the full functions of their job, provide guidance, ensure materials are available on time and associates adhere to established safety measures. Other duties as required by Management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Ensure new employees receive proper training.

• Review daily production reports for accuracy and input data into production passdown report. Submit all documents to the Production Manager.
• Review quality check sheet at start and end of shift ensuring equipment and quality checks were performed and within specifications.
• Review all quality alerts and deviations posted, communicate with quality department if extension or removal is needed. Communicate with line leader and production associates the status.
• Ensure lines are producing parts that meet the quality standards by random inspection and daily observations.
• Ensure associates follow work instructions by daily observations.
• Assist in getting line associates everyday items, watching inventory levels of supplies, and reporting shortages to supervisor.

• Assisting line feeder in assuring that parts needed for the days production is brought to the line for the operators, line must never stop for lack of parts.
• Ensure all products are labeled properly.
• Check Production Schedule and create run plan for shift and communicate this to line leader.
• Verify that shipments are made.
• Assesses repairs to line as needed for continuous production. If incapable of repairing notifies supervisor or maintenance.
• Reposition associates to cover any absentees.
• Ensure line associates are performing their job in a professional and timely manner.
• Perform employee job observations/evaluations and meet with associates to provide feedback.
• Communicate with line leaders, production associates and other employees in a professional manner.
• Ensure production associates and other employees follow all safety rules and company policies.
• Notify supervisor of any quality or safety concerns.
• Complete Accident/Injury Report when required and follow work instruction for the correct handling method of situation.
• Ensure associates perform 5S responsibilities on daily basis and maintain a clean and safe work area. Perform end of shift walk-through ensuring compliance.
• Control language and noise from associates in all areas.
• Ensure appropriate behavior among and by associates. When required, communicate with supervisor recommended counseling or disciplinaries and with supervisor guidance, create disciplinary or employee summary form, and meet with associate regarding corrective action.
• Exhibit discreteness in conversations with associates (i.e. non-work related, rumors, etc., not getting involved in personal matters).
• Assign duties for associates on down or slow times.
• Maintain control of scrap numbers. Review and submit scrap sheet to Production Manager.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Participate in LEAN manufacturing

2. Participate in Kaizen activities

3. Operate machines when needed

4. Prepare shipping labels

5. Oversee services, shipping, sorting

6. Assist supervisor when needed

7. Conduct inventory counts

8. As requested by Management

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)
