Key Responsibilities
- Teach courses in Agriculture Sciences.
- Serve as Livestock Evaluation instructor and coach.
- Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction in traditional and online formats.
- Advise and mentor students pursuing agricultural studies.
- Participate in departmental initiatives and assessment activities.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote programs within the college and the community.
- Establish and maintain relationships with area high schools and the community to create visibility and recognition for the program as well as to aid recruitment.
- Assist with recruitment efforts to grow student enrollment. Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous program improvement efforts.
- Engage in departmental meetings, student activities, college committees, and professional development activities.
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree in a related field with eighteen (18) graduate hours in agriculture sciences.
- Teaching experience preferred.
- The successful candidate must be fully credentialed per Higher Learning Commission and Illinois Community College Board standards upon date of hire.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented academic environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student success and excellence.
- A typical work schedule for a full-time faculty member at John Wood Community College includes a combination of teaching, office hours, and service to the college. While specific schedules may vary by department and course load.
- The position may require additional duties outside normal work hours and contracted workdays including travel to and from educational facilities.
- Overnight travel may be required to attend professional development activities.
- This is an exempt position with an estimated base salary range of $31,921.00 - $99,844.00. Salary is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and is commensurate with education and experience.
- John Wood Community College recognizes the valuable contributions of faculty members who take on additional responsibilities beyond their primary teaching and service obligations. In certain cases, faculty may be eligible for stipends to compensate for extra work that aligns with institutional priorities and needs.
