Normal Work Schedule: The typical working hours are 8:00 am to 5 pm, with a 60- minute lunch.

Job Summary

The Human Resources Coordinator / Generalist supports plant-level HR operations by managing recruitment, onboarding, employee records, compliance processes, and employee relations support for hourly and salaried team members. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate HR documentation, administering key HR programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws, and serving as a primary point of contact for employees visiting the HR office. The role plays a critical part in supporting staffing needs, employee engagement, and overall workforce compliance within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

A high school diploma is required; some college coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is highly preferred. A minimum of one year of prior human resources experience is required, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. The candidate must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish and able to speak, read, and write effectively in both languages. Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and HRIS systems, is required. The position requires excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to handle confidential information with discretion and respond to issues promptly and professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

An associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Experience with applicant tracking systems, electronic onboarding platforms, payroll systems, and attendance tracking programs is preferred. Prior experience supporting employee relations investigations and compliance audits is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

The Human Resources Coordinator / Generalist manages recruitment, selection, and placement processes for hourly production employees and supports salaried recruitment as needed. The role maintains and updates facility staffing reports and ensures timely completion of the full I-9 employment verification process in compliance with federal regulations. The position oversees new employee data entry, conducts new hire orientation sessions, and manages the entire onboarding process to ensure compliance and positive employee integration.

The role administers employee termination processes, including exit interviews and all associated documentation and recordkeeping. The position maintains attendance program records and supports the administration of employee disability and leave programs in coordination with corporate HR and third-party administrators. The Human Resources Coordinator / Generalist manages internal job postings, employee communication systems, and responds to walk-in traffic from employees, candidates, and visitors in a professional and service-oriented manner.

The position supports compliance with company policies, employment laws, and internal procedures, assists with audits and reporting requirements, and collaborates with plant leadership to address employee concerns and support workforce initiatives. Additional duties may be assigned by the Human Resources Manager to support departmental and operational objectives.

Work Environment

This position is located within a food manufacturing plant environment. The employee may be exposed to moving machinery such as forklifts and production equipment, varying temperature conditions, and elevated noise levels requiring hearing protection in certain areas. Compliance with all company safety policies, food safety standards, and required personal protective equipment is mandatory. The role requires frequent interaction with production employees, supervisors, and management personnel.

Physical Demands

The position requires occasional lifting from ground to waist of up to 25 pounds and rare front carrying of up to 25 pounds for short distances. The role may require occasional pushing or pulling and extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking between office and production areas. The employee must be able to use hands and arms for computer work, documentation, and filing while maintaining attention to detail in a busy environment.
