Job Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing immediate medical care and emergency response services within a food manufacturing facility. This role ensures the health and safety of employees by responding to workplace injuries, medical emergencies, and supporting plant safety initiatives while maintaining compliance with occupational health and food safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Current EMT certification (state/provincial license in good standing)
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Experience in occupational health, industrial, or manufacturing environments preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA or workplace safety regulations (or equivalent local standards)
- Strong documentation and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

- Respond promptly to on-site medical emergencies and workplace injuries
- Provide first aid, CPR, AED use, and basic life support (BLS) as required
- Assess injured employees and determine the need for advanced medical care or transport
- Coordinate with local EMS when additional medical assistance is required
- Maintain medical response equipment, first aid kits, and AED devices
- Document all incidents, treatments, and follow-up actions accurately
- Assist with injury reporting and workers’ compensation documentation
- Support safety programs and participate in safety audits and drills
- Conduct employee wellness checks and health screenings when needed
- Provide education and training on first aid, CPR, and workplace safety
Work Environment
- This job is carried out in a professional office setting and involves using standard office equipment like laptops, desk phones, and smartphones. Regular visits to production facilities may also be required. During those visits, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold temperatures, electrical shock and vibration risks. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
- This position requires working on the production floor in a cold environment with an average temperature of 40°F. The employee will be exposed to moderate noise levels, fast-paced operations, moving machinery, wet and dry areas, and must always wear personal protective
equipment (PPE). The role requires interaction with employees, contractors, and supervisors in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
Physical Demands
- Employees must be able to stand, walk, or sit; use their hands for tasks; reach with their arms; and communicate verbally. Occasional lifting or moving objects is necessary, along with close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The role requires standing and walking for extended periods, often over eight hours per shift. The employee must be able to use hands, fingers, arms, and reach as part of daily tasks. The position involves lifting and moving up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Visual requirements include the ability to see up close, at a distance, and to adjust focus. Repetitive movement, bending, twisting, and climbing may be required.
