This Position:
The Title and Salary Level of this position will be commensurate with experience level and role assignment(s) of the selected candidate. Also, this position requires that the candidate be located in Chemung County, NY (or within reasonable driving distance to the company headquarters in Elmira Heights, NY), and that they be in the office on a daily basis. This position requires a minimum working hour of 8am-430pm.
Generally, the Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the installation of electrical systems. The PM must coordinate and support the activities of company projects to ensure budgets, schedules, document control and quality standards are met.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of construction project management experience.
- An associate’s degree in construction management or related discipline would be preferred but not required.
- Related experience in construction administration, and a working knowledge of electrical systems.
- Advanced skills in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Project (or equivalent)
- The ability to quickly adapt to additional computer communications and networking technologies that may be required.
Additionally, John Mills Electric requires drug, alcohol, criminal and financial background checks.
Position Responsibilities:
- Define the technical requirements and feasibility of projects
- Outline timescales, costs and resources needed to deliver electrical projects under budget
- Develop step-by-step project plans
- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams
- Ensure each stage of a project happens on time, under budget and to a high standard
- Procurement (Purchasing) of major electrical materials
- Track materials after purchase
- Call vendors and clearly communicate milestone dates of delivered items in order to meet project schedules
- Generation and submission of electric submittals for engineering approval
- Release approved submittal materials for manufacturing and delivery
- Expedite materials to insure timely deliveries
- Provide support to field staff
- Follow Company Best Practices
- Organize and deliver Weekly Project Status/Action Meetings
- Communicate Effectively with all project Stakeholders, Teams and Customers
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple ongoing projects

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines.
Working Conditions:
Usual office working conditions. Working in both an office and on job sites will be required. The noise level in the work environment is typical of most office environments, as well as typical of construction sites.
