Key Responsibilities

  • Warehouse Strategy and Operations: Develop and implement warehouse strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient operations, accurate inventory management, and continuous improvement across all functions.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, coach, and develop a team of warehouse staff, providing training, performance feedback, and clear expectations that build a high-performing and accountable culture.
  • Inventory Control: Oversee all inventory control processes including cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliations to maintain accurate stock levels at all times.
  • Procurement Coordination: Collaborate with procurement and service teams to forecast inventory needs and ensure purchase orders are placed in time to prevent shortages.
  • Layout and Space Optimization: Optimize warehouse layout and space utilization to facilitate efficient product storage, retrieval, and order fulfillment.
  • Safety Leadership: Implement and enforce safety protocols and best practices, creating a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility and incidents are proactively prevented.
  • Receiving and Inbound Management: Manage the receiving, inspection, and storage of incoming shipments, verifying accuracy and quality and resolving any discrepancies promptly.
  • Outbound Logistics: Coordinate outbound operations including picking, packing, and shipping, ensuring accurate and timely order fulfillment for field teams and customers.
  • Equipment and Tool Maintenance: Monitor and maintain warehouse equipment and tools, coordinating repairs and preventive maintenance to ensure availability and functionality.
  • Inventory Systems and Reporting: Implement and maintain inventory management systems, using technology to track, analyze, and report on inventory levels, trends, and operational performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with service, procurement, and finance teams to ensure seamless coordination, timely communication, and aligned operations across the business.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in warehouse management or a similar leadership role, preferably in a service-oriented industry.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and hold a team accountable.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems with the ability to analyze and report on inventory data.
  • Solid understanding of warehouse operations including inventory control, logistics, and equipment management.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Strong commitment to safety and a track record of maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Forklift certification and knowledge of safe forklift operation preferred.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, or electrical materials is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.

Who You Are

You are a hands-on leader who sets the standard for your team by example. You care deeply about accuracy, safety, and efficiency, and you build the habits and systems that make all three happen consistently. You are the kind of manager who knows every corner of the warehouse, keeps inventory tight, and develops your team because you understand that their growth is your growth. You solve problems before they escalate and communicate clearly with the people who depend on you to keep the operation moving.

What Onboarding Looks Like

In your first 30 days, you will assess the current state of warehouse operations, review inventory accuracy, meet your team, and build relationships with procurement and service partners. By day 60, you have full ownership of warehouse operations, are running an efficient daily workflow, and have identified top priorities for improvement. By day 90, you have implemented meaningful process improvements, your team is operating with clear accountability, and field teams can count on the warehouse to support them without delays or errors.

The 5 Big Things — What Success Looks Like

  1. Accurate Inventory, Always: Cycle counts and physical inventories consistently confirm that system records match physical stock, and discrepancies are resolved immediately.
  2. A Safe Warehouse, Every Day: Safety protocols are enforced without exception, incidents are near zero, and every team member understands and owns their role in maintaining a safe environment.
  3. Field Teams Get What They Need On Time: Outbound fulfillment is accurate, timely, and reliable, so technicians are never delayed because of a warehouse issue.
  4. A High-Performing Warehouse Team: Your team is trained, accountable, and motivated, with low turnover and a culture that takes pride in doing the work right.
  5. Continuous Operational Improvement: The warehouse gets measurably more efficient over time through layout optimization, process improvements, and smarter use of systems and technology.
