Job Summary:

Hands-on Refrigeration Engineer responsible for designing refrigeration systems used in liquid cooling system products. This person would work with a small team of mechanical, electrical and manufacturing engineers to bring the new product though its full product development process, which includes early concept thru production support. The candidate would be responsible for refrigeration system design, component selection, refrigeration schematics, as well as working with the electrical engineer on refrigeration controls. This position would develop the layout of the refrigeration components and piping, as well as support the mechanical engineer on the structure or enclosure for the product. The person would work with the full engineering team for testing and debugging of the system under development. The Refrigeration Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the product’s refrigerant system hardware, sensors and controls to meet functional and performance requirements, while working with the team to deliver on schedule and on budget.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Interface with the design team and customers to understand and develop product specifications. Evaluate trade-offs between performance/functionality, quality, cost and schedule.
• Design the refrigeration system in the product by sizing and selecting refrigeration components and sensors. Key refrigeration items include compressors, evaporators, condensers, expansion devices (cap tubes, TEV’s, EEV’s) and fans for air-cooled products.
• Design the controls for the refrigeration portion of the product.
• Create refrigeration product schematics.
• Develop and execute verification test plans.
• Write test procedures and engineering reports.
• Create new items and BOM’s for the refrigeration portion of the design.
• Manage the refrigeration portion of the product for new product development. Ensure that cost, performance and schedule goals are achieved. Actively manage risk mitigation efforts.
• Follow established procedures; drive continuous improvement and update procedures applicable to your area as necessary.
• Provide product support from early concept, through product development and throughout production.
• Support failure and root cause analysis of prototype and production level products

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: BSME and 7 Years of hands on experience designing refrigeration systems.
• Knowledgeable / experienced in working with temperature, pressure, flow and other sensors.
• Understanding of total system testing, debugging, manufacturing, low cost, high quality & reliability
• Able to work independently and prioritize work based on the candidates understanding of the given overall project requirements as well as other projects within the organization
• Skilled in technical problem solving, analyzing system risk, identifying options, making recommendations
• Experience designing products with green refrigerants (A2L’s, CO2, R290, etc.)
