John Evans Recruiting is conducting a search for an HR Generalist for a PE-backed, high-growth construction company based in Columbia, MD. This is a newly created role to support the company’s sole HR Manager, as the company is rapidly expanding. About 40% of the work for this HR Generalist will be focused on weekly payroll, so an employee with payroll experience is strongly preferred.
Our client company has recently installed a new executive team. The ability to be flexible in a company that is dynamically changing under new leadership is very important for this role. Our client is looking to quickly scale revenue over the next 3 years and is also considering the acquisition of other companies in the construction industry. It is a very exciting time to join the company at this stage of its evolution-- focused on expansion!
Job duties:
- 40% weekly payroll duties: Monday-Wednesday each week will be focused on multi-state certified payroll for employees in MD, DC, VA, WV, and FL
- 35% recruiting support: Job posting, sourcing, phone interviewing, BG checks, reference checks
- 5% onboarding of new employees primarily in construction roles: construction project managers, assistant project managers, superintendents, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, electricians, carpenters, architects, and designers…many with top secret clearances
- 5% benefits admin support
- 5% support for implementation of a new HRIS system
Requirements:
- 3-7 years of HR generalist/support experience required
- 1 years of payroll experience strongly preferred, but our client is willing to train on payroll
- 1 years of recruiting support experience preferred
- Ability to be onsite 4 days a week in Columbia, MD office with one remote work day
- Ability to work 8 hours 1 hour lunch (7am-9am start time to 4pm-6pm end time)
- Experience recruiting architecture, engineering, or construction industry candidates is a plus
- Experience recruiting candidates with top secret clearances is a plus
Salary : $85,000 - $100,000
