The Sanitation Manager is responsible for overseeing sanitation operations and staff to ensure all AIB and SQF sanitation standards are met. This role manages both exempt and non-exempt employees within the sanitation department and ensures consistent compliance with food safety and quality requirements.
Functions of the Position:
- Manages all facility sanitation functions. Oversees daily workloads and partners with supervisors to continuously improve employee productivity and efficiency.
- Responsible for the instruction and training of chemical usage, safety procedures, and proper equipment operation.
- Oversees, trains, and manages all Sanitation Supervisors, Sanitation Leads, and hourly direct reports. Responsible for KPI creation, tracking, and documentation.
- Plans and coordinates sanitation schedules in partnership with production supervisors.
- Monitors pest control activity and ensures compliance with established programs.
- Reviews, develops, and updates sanitation plans, procedures, and training materials as needed.
- Ensures proper documentation and follow-up of plant sanitation schedules.
- Maintains cleaning schedules and tracks sanitation supply usage and inventory levels.
- Responsible for purchasing and maintaining all chemicals, sanitation supplies, and first-aid supplies.
Education, Experience, and Knowledge:
- Five or more years of experience in sanitation management.
- Experience in a food processing environment required; dry sanitation experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of sanitation chemicals required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College coursework or degree completion preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Pest Control certification preferred.
- HACCP certification preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Computer literate.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions.
- English proficiency required; Spanish is a plus.
- Strong ability to teach, train, and coach others.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
