What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc.?
The Human Resources Generalist provides a broad range of HR support and guidance and plays a key role in the success of our Bainbridge, GA facility. This role offers expertise in recruitment, terminations, performance management, employee relations, and HR best practices, while fostering positive relationships between employees and management.
Hours of the Position:
Monday and Friday 8am-4:30pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10:30am-7pm
Functions of the Position:
- Serves as one of the main contacts for employees to discuss workplace concerns and ask questions.
- Provides guidance on appropriate courses of action and prepares necessary documentation (memoranda of record, reports, counseling, or disciplinary documentation).
- Conducts and documents workplace investigations (telephonic or on‑site), including interviews with employees, managers, and third parties.
- Analyzes notes to draw valid conclusions, recommendations, and action plans. Prepares comprehensive reports and summaries of findings for management.
- Educates, assists, and coaches' employees and managers on all employee relations issues.
- Assists with performance evaluations and performance improvement plans and provides recommendations to strengthen the performance program.
- Recommends HR policies and procedures to improve efficiency and ensure compliance.
- Ensures all company policies and procedures remain up to date with current employment laws.
Education, Experience, and Knowledge:
- Minimum of three years of human resources experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
- At least one year of experience with responsibility and accountability for employee relations and/or labor relations.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information in a mature and professional manner.
- Highly analytical thinker and problem solver with strong attention to detail; extremely well organized.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency, sound judgment, and strong decision‑making skills.
- Ability to multi‑task and manage multiple projects through completion.
- Able to build credibility and serve as a trusted resource at all levels.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
