Joe Davis Autosport is looking for a motivated, detail-driven, and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Service Advisor / Service Writer. You will be responsible for managing customer communication and repair order workflow, including explaining vehicle needs, building estimates, and keeping both customers and technicians aligned.
Success in this role requires organization, clear communication, and a strong sense of ownership. You will play a key part in ensuring every vehicle is handled properly and every customer leaves with confidence in their decision.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact from vehicle check-in through delivery
- Clearly explain customer concerns, diagnostic findings, and recommended repairs in plain language
- Set accurate expectations for cost, timing, and next steps
- Provide proactive updates throughout the repair process
- Build long-term customer relationships through trust, transparency, and professionalism
- Manage the full lifecycle of repair orders within Tekmetric
- Build accurate estimates based on proper diagnostics, not assumptions
- Present recommendations in a clear priority structure: Safety, Reliability, Maintenance, and Convenience
- Coordinate scheduling, parts procurement, and technician workflow to maintain efficiency
- Track open estimates and follow up on declined or deferred work
- Communicate clearly with technicians to ensure alignment on diagnostics and repairs
- Verify all information before presenting to customers to avoid miscommunication
- Maintain an organized workflow between the front office and shop
- Ensure repair orders are accurate, complete, and well-documented
- Take full ownership of issues and ensure they are resolved properly from start to finish
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Service Advisor / Service Writer in an automotive or service-based environment
- Strong ability to communicate clearly and translate technical information into simple, understandable terms
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional and confident approach
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple repair orders and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with shop management software (Tekmetric preferred)
- Comfortable working with digital inspections, estimates, and communication tools
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on ownership and follow-through
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work closely with technicians and staff
