Responsibilities
- Diagnose transmission issues using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics to identify root causes efficiently.
- Repair or replace transmission components, including clutches, gears, shafts, and valves, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform comprehensive vehicle maintenance tasks such as fluid changes, system calibrations, and alignment checks related to powertrain components.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and specialized automotive electrical systems to execute repairs with precision.
- Interpret technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electronic systems within vehicles.
- Conduct vehicle inspections focusing on drivetrain performance, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), and overall mechanical integrity.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure quality control and maintain high standards of automotive repair service for diverse vehicle makes including GM vehicles.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on transmission repair within a dealership or automotive repair environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of powertrain systems, diesel engine repair, and automotive electrical systems.
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostics software and schematics for troubleshooting complex issues.
- Experience working with vehicle maintenance procedures such as wheel alignment, auto body repair integration, and vehicle servicing.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance machinery safely and effectively.
- Dealership experience is highly preferred; knowledge of GM vehicles is a plus but not mandatory.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
