Overview
Perform aircraft noise predictions and community noise assessment using acoustic propagation software.
Responsibilities
Conduct acoustic simulations using tools such as Advanced Acoustic Model, Aviation Environmental Design Tool, and SoundPLAN
Perform aircraft acoustic analyses to compare noise sources
Develop software framework and data pipeline for acoustic evaluation of new locations
Verification and presentation of predictions to guide future operations
Develop documentation and presentations to document acoustic impacts for specific infrastructure locations
Required
Graduate student in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
Experience with computational aeroacoustics and sound propagation modeling
Ability to work in groups and individually
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders across a wide range of technical disciplines
Knowledge of rotorcraft aerodynamics and acoustics
Proficiency with MATLAB and Python
Desired
Understanding of CFD and FWH methods
Understanding of acoustic metrics and acoustic masking
Experience with Git/GitHub

Relocation Assistance: This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
The pay range for undergraduate interns, which includes freshman to senior level students, is $22-$31/hr. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor, Master, and/or Ph.D. degree is $5,550-$7,800/month. Individual pay is determined by internship role, department, experience, job-related skills, and level of education.
