Z/OS System Admin job description:
- Core Z/OS Administration: Oversee the complete lifecycle—including installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance—of the Z/OS operating system and related hardware subsystems (HMC, DS8910, Luminex VTL).
- Technical Proficiency: Leverage in-depth knowledge of mainframe utilities and tools (HCD, SMP/E, RACF, TCP/IP, SMS, etc.), TSO/JCL, ISPF, SERVER packs, and OEM software (OPS/MVS, Zeke, Zara).
- 24/7 Operations & Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure continuous system availability, troubleshoot complex hardware/software issues, assist programmers with technical hurdles, and provision system access.
- Process & Environment Management: Drive continuous improvement of IT processes, ensure tool configuration consistency across all environments (development through production), and update Disaster Recovery protocols.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with stakeholders and project teams to deliver quality solutions, while providing comprehensive user training, work estimates, and up-to-date technical documentation.
