Description: Must-Have Technical / Functional Skills
- Experience: 5 years of hands-on experience in a lab environment (EMC experience preferred; general automotive electrical testing considered).
- EMC Technical Skills: Proficient in operating EMC test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Power Meters. Familiar with vehicle EMC test methodologies (Radiated Emissions, Onboard Emissions, Radiated Immunity).
- Vehicle Communication Tools: Skilled in CANalyzer or similar tools to interface with vehicle ECUs.
- Software Automation: Ability to write and modify test scripts (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation.
- Vehicle Expertise: Knowledge of basic electric vehicle architecture; comfortable working in and around vehicles, including mechanical disassembly, harness modifications, fuse replacements, and LV/HV system charging and revival.
- Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive EMC standards such as ISO, SAE, and UNECE-R10.

- Vehicle Preparation and Bring-Up
- Communicate with vehicle program teams to understand timelines and deliverables; draft test plans and arrange schedules/logistics.
- Physically prepare prototype vehicles for EMC testing (install fiber optic converters, current probes, specialized test harnesses).
- Ensure vehicle systems are in the correct state for testing (HV battery engaged, communication buses active).
- Collaborate with software teams to flash firmware versions and activate test modes for lab sessions.
- Execute test cases for Radiated/Conducted Emissions and Immunity per test plan.
- Develop and use automation scripts (Bash, Python, etc.) to control vehicle functions and monitor bus traffic (CAN/LIN/Ethernet).
- Maintain detailed logs of configurations, software versions, and hardware revisions for each test run.
- Perform testing in-house and at external labs to support vehicle-level validation.
- Work with external lab technicians to set up vehicles on dynamometers or turntables.
- Coordinate scheduling and logistics for vehicle/equipment movement to test facilities.
- Conduct troubleshooting when vehicles fail EMC tests; perform module-level swaps or experiments to identify failure modes.
- Capture and organize raw test data; provide preliminary analysis to identify trends or anomalies.
- Support design teams by verifying hardware fixes (e.g., ferrites, grounding improvements) through quick-look testing.
- Collaborate with engineers to resolve EMC test failures via deep-dive experiments at module level.
- Maintain in-house test capabilities, including new instrumentation commissioning and calibration.
- Support other team responsibilities as needed (component EMC test/debugging, RF performance, LV tests).
- Apply familiarity with vehicle EMC simulation and modeling tools (ANSYS, CST, or similar).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Skilled in planning, scheduling, and coordinating complex technical projects.
