Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin's best-in-class Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity and reliability. Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems and small rocket motors.

We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable engineer to join our tight-knit group. The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for an Engineer in the Boost Control System (BCS) IPT that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the BCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The BCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the control systems used during the boost phase of the missiles flight.

This position will be responsible for leading efforts to design, develop, and produce complex test stands supporting the testing of servo actuator units and gas hydraulic assemblies.

What you will be doing:

Supporting the design, development, and testing of test fixtures and stands for the testing of Hydraulic systems and assemblies

Collaborating with engineering teams, program management teams, and external supplier teams to ensure alignment and successful test equipment development

Troubleshooting and debugging existing test equipment while developing new equipment

Analyzing and resolving problems, and managing and prioritizing your own workload

Generating status reports, project plans, and work instructions using Microsoft Office products

Working effectively in a team environment, communicating complex ideas clearly, and having excellent problem-solving skills

Develop upgrades for legacy test stands to improve reliability, maintainability, and operation use.

Basic Qualifications

5 years professional experience with at least 2 years' experience in an engineering testing environment.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and ability to articulate technical data and concepts to a wide audience of individuals of different technical backgrounds.

Experience with Engineering testing practices.

Functional knowledge in the design, assembly, and operation of engineering test systems for hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Ability to interpret complex drawing requirements.

Desired Skills

Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study.

Ability to work with minimal detailed direction to deliver desired results.

Experience in managing and prioritizing your own workload that may consist of several tasks at once.

Proficiency researching and specifying components for test equipment design.

Proficiency generating assembly and block diagram sketches, parts lists and other types of engineering documentation.

Proficiency troubleshooting measurement issues and isolating problems down to the test instrument, fixturing, software level or unit under test.

Previous experience diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic system faults or issues.

Experience testing hydraulic or pneumatic systems.

    Work Schedule Information

    Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

    National Pay Statement

    Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

    Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.

    (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

    This position is incentive plan eligible.

    Premium Pay Statement

    Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $120,100 - $208,150. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
