Role Summary
The Tableau Lead Consultant is responsible for endtoend ownership of the Tableau BI platform, providing technical leadership, advanced (L3) support, and delivery of analytics enhancements. The role covers Tableau Server/Cloud administration, dashboard development, performance optimization, security, governance, and stakeholder management, ensuring scalable, secure, and highperformance analytics solutions.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage Tableau Server / Tableau Cloud environments
- Act as the L3 escalation point for complex Tableau issues
- Drive platform stability, scalability, and continuous improvement
- Lead Tableau upgrades, patching, and version compatibility planning
- Design and develop interactive Tableau dashboards, reports, and KPIs
- Optimize workbooks, extracts, and live connections for performance
- Implement best practices for visual design, usability, and storytelling
- Troubleshoot performance issues, refresh failures, and data discrepancies
- Monitor extract refresh schedules, subscriptions, and s
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive fixes
- Support businesscritical reporting cycles and peak usage windows
- Manage Tableau users, groups, projects, and permissions
- Define and enforce governance standards (naming, certification, promotion)
- Integrate Tableau with enterprise data sources (SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Data Warehouses, APIs)
- Deliver minor enhancements and configuration changes
- Support legacy BI to Tableau migrations (e.g., Cognos/Qlik/BOBJ Tableau)
- Work closely with business users, product owners, and data teams
- Participate in CAB, release planning, and design reviews
- Translate business requirements into scalable analytics solutions
- Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server / Tableau Cloud
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge
- Tableau performance tuning (extracts, calculations, dashboard design)
