Hansen Talent Group is hiring a staff accountant to support a financial services organization in Columbia SC.

This role focuses on the financial administration and compliance of employee benefit plans, including 401(k), 403(b), and pension plans. You’ll manage regulatory filings, testing, and day-to-day plan operations, ensuring compliance with IRS and Department of Labor requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Manage daily operations of retirement plans, including loans, distributions, and participant updates
• Reconcile participant accounts, trust assets, and employer contributions
• Prepare and file Form 5500 and related schedules
• Perform non-discrimination testing and ensure compliance with IRS/DOL regulations
• Ensure plan operations align with legal plan documents; support amendments and restatements
• Act as liaison during audits, resolving discrepancies and providing documentation
• Support system upgrade testing prior to production releases
• Maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of all compliance activities
  
  

What You’ll Need

• Experience with retirement plan administration (401(k), 403(b), pensions)
• Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations
• Experience preparing Form 5500 and performing compliance testing
• Strong reconciliation and data analysis skills
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• Proficiency with Excel and financial systems
