Role: Sr. Business Consultant Pharma Sales & Marketing

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Contract

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Consultant to join our Life Sciences Consulting practice, specializing in Pharma Sales Operations and Marketing Analytics.

This role requires a strong blend of business consulting, analytics expertise, and pharma domain knowledge, with the ability to lead client engagements, drive insights, and deliver scalable analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will work closely with both business stakeholders and IT teams to solve complex commercial challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Consulting & Delivery Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end client engagements and analytics solution delivery
  • Drive requirements gathering, business analysis, and solution design
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight to project teams
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Develop and present client-ready deliverables and executive presentations

Business & Analytics Expertise

  • Perform data analysis and generate actionable business insights
  • Design and implement advanced analytics and reporting solutions
  • Conduct as-is and to-be business process mapping
  • Lead business process improvement initiatives

Pharma Domain Expertise

  • Analyze sales data (HCP/HCO, Rx, claims data)
  • Develop segmentation and targeting strategies
  • Support new product launch analytics and strategy
  • Manage HCP HCO GPO/IDN affiliations
  • Design territory alignment solutions
  • Support incentive compensation (IC) analytics and reporting
  • Work with commercial datasets (IQVIA, Symphony, DRG, CMS, EHR/PHR, etc.)

Stakeholder & Communication

  • Act as a bridge between business and technical teams
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Develop storyboards, presentations, and structured analysis decks
  • Identify risks and proactively drive resolution

Core Skills

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong expertise in business analysis, consulting, and analytics
  • Experience in business process mapping and improvement
  • Ability to structure and solve complex business problems

Pharma Domain Expertise

  • Hands-on experience with:
    • IQVIA / Symphony / DRG datasets
    • Claims, Rx, and Sales data
    • HCP/HCO targeting and segmentation
  • Experience in commercial data management strategies

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in:
    • SQL, SAS, Excel (Advanced)
    • PowerPoint / Google Slides (advanced storytelling skills)
  • Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, QlikView)
  • Knowledge of:
    • CRM tools (SFDC)
    • MDM and Data Warehousing (preferred)
  • Exposure to statistical tools (R, Python, SAS) is a plus

Consulting & Methodologies

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum and Waterfall methodologies
  • Skilled in user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria
  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
