Simple Overview:
Senior Business Analyst – AI-Enabled Project Execution
A Senior Business Analyst to support an AI-focused project within an engineering/project delivery environment. This person will work directly with business and project stakeholders to understand how projects are planned, executed, monitored, reported on, and managed today, then help define how AI can be used to improve visibility into project health, project risks, performance trends, and other key execution insights.
This is not a traditional documentation-only BA role. The ideal candidate will be a senior, consultative business analyst who can lead discovery conversations, ask thoughtful questions, synthesize input from multiple stakeholder groups, identify process and data gaps, and help shape a practical AI-enabled solution vision. The role requires someone who can think broadly about the business, understand how work flows across teams, and translate ambiguous business needs into clear, prioritized requirements and solution concepts.
Primary Responsibilities
The Senior Business Analyst will lead stakeholder discovery sessions with project managers, delivery leaders, operations, business development, procurement, finance, and other relevant business groups to understand current project execution processes, reporting needs, pain points, and decision-making challenges.
They will document current-state workflows, identify opportunities where AI or advanced analytics could improve project visibility, and help define future-state capabilities related to project health, project risk, early-warning indicators, trend analysis, operational insights, and management reporting.
The role will require the BA to gather, organize, and prioritize business requirements; identify key data sources and business rules; define user needs and use cases; and work with technical teams to translate business objectives into actionable solution requirements. This person should be comfortable helping stakeholders move from “big picture ideas” to a more structured roadmap of what should be solved first, what data is needed, what value the solution should create, and how success should be measured.
The BA will also help define success criteria, prioritize use cases, support prototype or pilot planning, and ensure the solution remains grounded in real business value rather than technology for technology’s sake.
Ideal Background And Experience
The ideal candidate will have strong experience as a Senior Business Analyst, Business Process Analyst, Product Analyst, or Process Discovery Lead, ideally in a project-driven organization such as engineering, construction, professional services, infrastructure, consulting, or another environment where project execution, project controls, resource planning, cost, schedule, and risk management are important.
Experience does not need to be deeply technical, but the candidate should have practical familiarity with AI, analytics, automation, reporting, or data-driven solution initiatives. They should understand how to work with stakeholders to identify where AI may be useful, where it may not be appropriate, and what business outcomes the organization is trying to achieve.
Strong candidates will have experience with stakeholder interviews, workshop facilitation, process mapping, requirements definition, gap analysis, use case development, prioritization, and working with technical teams, data teams, or product teams to define solutions. Experience with project management, project controls, dashboards, reporting tools, enterprise systems, or operational analytics would be highly valuable.
Key Skills
The successful candidate should bring:
Expected deliverables may include current-state process documentation, stakeholder interview summaries, pain point and opportunity analysis, prioritized AI/analytics use cases, business requirements, user stories, future-state process recommendations, data/source system considerations, success metrics, and a recommended roadmap for pilot or implementation.

SES hires W2 benefitted and non-benefitted consultants. Our contract employee benefits include group medical dental vision life LT and ST disability insurance, 21 days of accrued paid time off, 401k, tuition reimbursement, performance bonuses, paid overtime, and more.
