Program Manager Vegetation Management

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Program Manager Vegetation Management in Oakland, CA.

REQUIREMENTS:

Program Management Expertise:

• At least 5 years of program or project management experience in a related field, managing large-scale programs
• Ability to manage contractors (e.g., inspection teams, tree removal contractors) and ensure all parties are aligned with program goals
  
  

Outdoor Experience:

• Experience in Forestry, Resource Management, or Wildfire Management (e.g., Forest Service, BLM, park ranger, or camp manager)
• Comfort working in remote, mountainous terrain and handling field operations
  
  

Field Presence & Relationship Building:

• Willingness to be in the field regularly and build strong, in-person relationships with O&M teams (Operations & Maintenance)
• Strong communication skills to keep stakeholders informed and aligned, especially before field operations
  
  

Hazardous Tree Removal Coordination:

• Experience managing hazardous tree removal efforts, with a focus on safety and compliance; The role processes about 2,000 tree removals per year and works toward increasing this number
  
  

GIS and Work Management Systems:

• Proficiency with GIS tools (such as ArcGIS) and the ability to leverage them for vegetation management tasks
• Familiarity with work management systems like SAP to manage inspections, tasks, and workflows efficiently
  
  

Contractor Oversight:

• Ability to manage multiple contractors (e.g., inspectors, tree removal contractors) and ensure that work is executed per established standards
  
  

Travel & Flexibility:

• 40-60% travel across a wide territory (Shasta to Fresno); Flexibility for extended trips as needed, with field presence required on average 1 day per week
  
  

Safety & Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensuring all activities comply with safety regulations and environmental standards, especially when working in high-risk areas like wildfire zones or watershed regions
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
