Pay Rate: $45 -$50/hr
We have an immediate need for an OpenXR Application Developer based in Redmond, WA, working on cutting-edge immersive technologies in a highly innovative and collaborative environment. This role offers the opportunity to build next-generation XR applications from the ground up, focusing on performance, scalability, and user interaction.
In this role, you will design and develop end-to-end XR applications using OpenXR, covering architecture, implementation, testing, and continuous iteration. You will build advanced interactive features including input handling with controllers and hand tracking, 3D interaction systems such as object manipulation and spatial UI, and optimize rendering performance to achieve low latency and high frame rates. The position requires integration of platform-level capabilities such as tracking spaces, anchors, and passthrough features, along with debugging complex runtime and device-level issues related to graphics, tracking, and input systems. You will collaborate closely with product, UX, and engineering teams to deliver seamless immersive experiences while contributing to clean, scalable codebases and CI/build processes.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in developing real-time 3D applications, with hands-on expertise in OpenXR concepts such as sessions, swapchains, spaces, and action systems. Proficiency in C, C , or C# is essential, along with experience in platforms such as Unity with OpenXR plugins, Unreal Engine XR pipelines, or native OpenXR using Vulkan, OpenGL, or DirectX. A solid understanding of XR performance constraints, including frame rate optimization and latency reduction, is critical. Familiarity with advanced OpenXR extensions like hand tracking, eye gaze, and foveated rendering, along with experience in graphics programming and tools such as RenderDoc, is highly desirable. Candidates who can directly work on our payroll are encouraged to apply, and subcontracting is allowed for this role.
