Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer IV to join our client's team in Redmond, Washington. The ideal candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to design, manufacture, and assemble prototypes of soft wearable electronic devices. This role involves applying sound engineering principles, collaborating with researchers and engineers, and communicating with vendors to ensure the successful development of innovative hardware solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, manufacture, and assemble prototypes of soft wearable electronic devices.
- Apply engineering and design principles for manufacturing injection-molded components, soft electronic components, and novel sensor integrations.
- Communicate with vendors on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and manufacturing of designs for prototype builds.
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers to rapidly prototype hardware solutions, iterate, and run experiments.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- 4 years of experience in designing hardware prototypes, preferably in wearable consumer electronics or a similar field.
- Knowledge of the design process from concept to manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred).
- Physical prototyping experience.
- Demonstrated experience with design for injection molding, liquid silicone rubber, and 3D printing.
- Experience with FPC/PCB design.
- Knowledge of sensors.
- Experience developing wearable consumer electronics.
- Experience designing with soft goods or textiles.
- Hands-on prototyping with molding and casting of elastomers or industrial processes such as Liquid Injection Molding.
- Experience collaborating and communicating effectively on multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
