Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and operational support of enterprise-scale monitoring and observability solutions for cloud-hosted applications and infrastructure. This role will provide technical leadership to a team of engineers while partnering closely with government customers and internal stakeholders to deliver highly reliable, secure, and scalable monitoring solutions.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Splunk, AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, APM tools, synthetic monitoring, performance engineering, and incident response. This role is critical in ensuring the availability, performance, and reliability of mission-critical systems operating in cloud environments.
Experience
8 years of IT experience with at least 5 years in:
Application Performance Management (APM)
Cloud Monitoring & Observability
Performance Engineering
Production Support / Reliability Engineering
Technical Skills
Strong hands-on expertise with:
Splunk Enterprise / Splunk Observability
AWS CloudWatch
Azure Monitor
Dynatrace / AppDynamics / New Relic / similar APM tools
Experience with synthetic transaction monitoring and alerting.
Strong knowledge of Java/JVM performance tuning.
Scripting experience using Shell, PowerShell, Python, Regex.
Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure, networking, and cloud operations.
