- Primary designer and developer for instructor-led, web-based, and on-the-job training for apprenticeships in the utilities industry.
- Leverage and apply established instructional design methodologies to assess stakeholder needs, analyze complex content, and evaluate delivered training.
- Develop learning materials for technical content, including hands-on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, scenarios, videos, assessments, simulations, and other instructional media.
- Perform a detailed task analysis for each job function, business process, or system for which training will be developed.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to conceptualize training design and content.
- Define learning objectives, and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs and to meet the constraints of the learning environment.
- Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates.
- Write clear and effective instructional text, audio, or video scripts appropriate for the target audience.
- Lead milestone meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis, alpha, beta, and train the trainer.
- Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation.
- Receive and incorporate feedback.
- Self-manage assigned tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables.
- Proactively communicate issues and risks.
- 3 years experience developing instructor-led training and on-the-job tasks for technical skills.
- 3 years of experience with Storyline, QuestionMark and Author-It.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design and methodologies.
- Proven experience performing task analysis.
- Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Demonstrated ability to execute and deliver against multiple competing deadlines, as needed.
- Experience developing technical training for adult learners.
- Work Samples/Portfolio
- A portfolio/work samples must be provided for consideration.
- Technical writing experience a plus.
- Utility experience a plus.
