The Data Steward will serve as the single point of accountability for data contract lifecycle management post-implementation, driving structured maintenance processes, issue remediation, and governance transparency across Finance data domains.
Key Responsibilities
Data Contract Ownership & Maintenance
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Finance data contracts, with primary focus on post-implementation maintenance and sustainability
- Ensure data contracts (schemas, definitions, lineage, controls, and data quality rules) remain accurate, complete, and aligned with evolving requirements
- Drive continuous updates and enhancements to contract artifacts based on business, regulatory, and audit-driven changes
- Govern the structured intake process for maintenance requests, including changes related to sourcing, data defects, controls, and lineage
- Review, triage, and assign maintenance requests submitted by producers, consumers, or engineering teams
- Ensure all requests are logged, tracked, and governed through a formalized process with clear accountability
- Perform initial impact assessments to evaluate scope, downstream impact, and risk associated with contract changes
- Prioritize work based on regulatory criticality, data quality impact, and business urgency
- Define remediation plans and coordinate execution across stakeholders
- Create and manage JIRA (or equivalent) tickets to track remediation and maintenance activities
- Coordinate with engineering and data services teams for implementation of contract updates
- Monitor progress and ensure timely resolution and closure of issues aligned with SLA expectations
- Oversee data quality (DQ) scorecards, thresholds, and issue remediation tied to data contracts
- Ensure alignment with data control frameworks (e.g., DQC, RCSA, regulatory controls)
- Validate that contract changes maintain data integrity, traceability, and compliance posture
- Produce regular reporting and dashboards highlighting maintenance status, backlog, risks, and remediation progress
- Lead or contribute to monthly data contract maintenance forums, reviewing:
- Open maintenance requests
- JIRA status and remediation progress
- Data quality metrics and scorecards
- RFCs and structural updates
- Support internal and regulatory audits by ensuring complete traceability of changes and documented remediation history
- Collaborate with:
- Data Producers (source system owners)
- Data Consumers (reporting and analytics teams)
- Engineering and Data Services teams
- Data Governance, Controls, and Regulatory partners
- Act as the central point of coordination and accountability for all contract-related issues and updates
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 years of experience in Finance Data Governance, Data Management, or Regulatory Data domains
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Data contract concepts / data product ownership
- Data lineage, controls, and data quality frameworks
- Financial regulatory reporting (e.g., FRY14, Liquidity, Stress reporting)
- Experience with issue management tools (e.g., JIRA) and structured governance processes
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders and drive issue resolution
- Experience in BCBS 239, SOX, or RCSA-aligned environments
- Familiarity with data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, semantic models, ADS ecosystems)
- Exposure to data mesh or domain-oriented data ownership models
- Data governance and contract lifecycle management
