About The Role

The Mechanical Technician III supports short-duration, onsite mechanical work focused on piping, tubing, and cryogenic systems. This role requires strong hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, demolition, precision tubing installation, and adherence to safety and quality standards in an industrial or aerospace environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform demolition and removal of tubing and piping systems using standard hand and power tools
• Build and install 37 flared tubing for cryogenic systems, ensuring zero residual stress and high-integrity joints
• Properly torque bolts, fittings, and fasteners using calibrated torque wrenches per specifications
• Read and interpret P&IDs to verify system layout and work accuracy
• Inspect and verify LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) requirements before executing work
• Support and work safely around rigging and crane operations (non-operator role)
• Review and critically evaluate work instructions, identifying opportunities for improved efficiency and execution
• Comply with all site safety requirements, including fall-protection procedures when required
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience as a mechanical technician working with piping and tubing systems
• Proficient with hand and power tools used in mechanical demolition and installation
• Strong understanding of torque requirements for mechanical joints and fittings
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and mechanical drawings
• Familiarity with LOTO procedures and industrial safety practices
• Willingness and ability to work onsite in Huntsville, AL for the full duration of the assignment
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with welding pipe supports
• AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Certification (preferred)
• ASME B31.3 Pipe Welding Certification (preferred)
• Experience with ASME B31.3 orbital tube welding
• Fall protection training or certification
  
  

Work Environment

• Onsite industrial/mechanical work site
• Work may require working at height and use of fall-protection equipment
• Physical demands include standing, lifting, bending, and tool usage for extended periods
