The selected technician will join a team of approximately 10 members divided into two scrum groups, collaborating with cross-functional hardware and software engineers. The position reports directly to the hiring manager and supports multiple teams in maintaining and improving the hardware platform used across value streams for ongoing product development. In this role, the technician will perform hands-on circuit-level work, including analysis, troubleshooting, rework, and certification testing of two-way radios and repeaters. The position involves working in both office and laboratory environments, performing detailed technical operations such as soldering, rework of small components, and use of specialized test equipment. The technician will be expected to maintain organized documentation, track prototype hardware, and contribute to continuous improvement of product quality and reliability through consistent testing and evaluation processes.

  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics and PCB layouts
  • Proficiency with test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes for circuit validation and debugging
  • Skilled in soldering and reworking components including 0201 parts, SOICs (Small Outline Integrated Circuits), and fine-pitch BGAs (Ball Grid Arrays)
  • Experience reworking circuits using small-gauge wire (32 AWG or smaller)

  • Analyze and troubleshoot two-way radios and repeaters, identifying issues at the circuit level and implementing appropriate fixes to restore functionality and compliance with design specifications
  • Create and modify custom cable assemblies as needed for testing, interconnects, and prototype configurations
  • Perform detailed rework of electronic assemblies, including soldering 0201 size parts, replacing SOICs, and reballing or reworking BGAs, ensuring reliability and conformance to engineering standards
  • Conduct diagnostic testing on radios and repeaters using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other precision lab instruments to verify component and circuit integrity
  • Support product certification testing by executing structured validation procedures and documenting test outcomes to ensure hardware meets regulatory and internal performance criteria
  • Utilize Cadence Allegro Design Entry HDL and PCB Layout Editor to review circuit layouts and schematics, trace signal paths, and validate hardware design consistency
  • Rework and repair circuits using fine-gauge wire (32 AWG or smaller) for intricate or precision modifications on prototype boards
  • Track and maintain prototype hardware, documenting configurations, test results, and rework history to support design iteration and traceability
  • Support RF and digital teams by preparing test setups, analyzing results, and contributing to ongoing product refinement efforts
  • Collaborate with engineers across software and hardware teams to align testing outcomes and ensure successful platform integration
  • Maintain an organized laboratory workspace, ensuring accurate records of test results, equipment use, and hardware changes
